Contempt proceedings against one advocate

Last week one of the High courts had drawn contempt proceedings against one advocate for criticising and using derogatory language against a judge.

According to a report honтАЩble Bombay high court roughed up and humiliated a junior advocate so intensely that he fainted. Both these incidents have shaken my conscience deeply.

These are not singular happenings but similar situations are occurring frequently thus raising a question mark against the judicial system.

Believing that judges and advocates are the two wheels of the chariot of justice and also that if a judge is the Presiding Officer of the Court an advocate is known as an Officer of the court.

The question arises why such unwanted situations arise? At this juncture, I will not make any comments. Instead, I expect the judgeтАЩs fora as well as the BCI,State Bar councils and the Bar Associations to delve upon the issue who make tall claims of welfare of two institutional communities.

I, however, am of opinion that if early steps are not taken in time the two shall collapse one day.
